See the history

From the SPM lobby visitors enter a display area in the north section of the building that houses artifacts that came from the homes of folks who lived in the area or are representative of household goods in common use from the late 1800s to the 1970s. Period costume jewelry and clothing (changed on the manikins for each season) is also on display in this area. Furniture, musical instruments, lighting fixtures, lamps, kitchen products, pots & pans, dishes, cooking utensils, kitchen tools, kitchen appliances and several early RCA Victor recording devices and players are also on display. Many of the items on display are precursors of contemporary devices that we take for granted today. (Click on photos to enlarge & slide show)
